Curriculum: French

At our school the children learn French. St. Ambrose is committed to the principle that learning another language is appropriate for all children, whatever their ability or special needs. We believe that many children really enjoy learning to speak another language and that the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language, the faster an understanding is achieved.

We use a variety of techniques and I.C.T. skills to encourage the children to engage actively including games, role-play and action songs. We often use puppets and soft toys to demonstrate the French language. We frequently use mime to accompany new vocabulary, as this teaches the language without the need for translation. Above all we aim to ensure that the lessons are interesting, fun and varied!
