Departments: Infant 2
Year 2 in St. Ambrose is a time of achievement, excitement and fun. The boys develop their skills in English and Maths to a very high standard and are encouraged to become even more independent in their work. A great emphasis is placed on excellence in writing and reading skills with the boys heard daily by their teacher.
The excitement of discovery is captured with science topics that include electricity, forces, health, growth and materials. In History the boys focus on the Victorian period all year and are given the opportunity to experience history first hand with role plays during the annual trips to Dunham Massey and the Apprentice House in Styal.
In design and technology the boys make vehicles, puppets and Mexican masks and in art they paint, draw and make 3-dimensional models in clay. ICT studies are built into the entire curriculum with the boys using computers for all subjects.
A highlight of the year is when the boys celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. The boys, their parents, and the whole school come together as one family to celebrate this very special day.
Year 2 is a busy time for all of us with plenty of hard work. The boys are stimulated to enjoy their learning experiences and as a result they all achieve much during the year.
