Departments: EYFS Nursery

The Nursery is a fully integrated part of the Preparatory School and together with the Reception Class forms the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children are eligible to join the Nursery from age 3+ years.

Staff

Experienced, qualified staff, lead and manage the Nursery which is very well resourced and benefits from spacious indoor and outdoor learning areas. Close proximity to the Reception Class allows the building of relationships with slightly older children and other members of staff, encouraging and facilitating an easy transition to the next stage when the time comes.

Facilities

Children in the EYFS enjoy the benefits of specialist staff for Music and the use of whole-school facilities including: the hall for P.E. and Assemblies, the ICT suite, the Prayer Room and the playing fields.

Lunch

Lunchtime is very much a social occasion when the children enjoy their packed lunch in the secure, peaceful surroundings of their own room, assisted by Nursery staff and additional specially assigned lunchtime helpers. There is a pause in the morning’s activities when the children have a healthy mid-morning snack.

Curriculum

The ‘Early Learning Goals’ form the basis of the Nursery curriculum and these include:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Mathematical Development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development

Partnership with Parents

In order for the EYFS to be successful, it is essential that parents work very much in partnership with school, helping to ensure close liaison and strong mutual support. Our aim is to provide the highest standard of care and education in a happy, secure environment which embraces and nurtures Christian family values.
